Kai and Allie

The Fennell Blogwaves were pretty quiet last week b/c we were busy visiting with my sister and my niece Allie. They spent nearly a week with us and joined us for US Thanksgiving. We put our tree up a little early so that we could have an early Christmas while they were here too. My sister and I have not spent Christmas together since 2002 and won't this year, so we decided it is not about the date and had Christmas on Nov. 30. It was great though b/c it got me excited and really into the spirit. It was also so much fun to watch Kai and Allie opening their Christmas presents together. The cousin competition has already begun. Seems that they each wanted whatever toy the other opened up. Kai LOVED Allie's toy phone, even though he has the exact same one. There was no hair pulling and screaming, thank goodness and they managed to take turns pushing the buttons on the phone.

Now how is that for cooperation????

We were all curious as to how they'd react to each other. This was their second encounter; they met in the summer about 4 months ago - which in baby time means "I have no idea who the heck you are." Allie was smitten. She vibrated whenever Kai came into the room and the only chance of getting a photo of her looking at the camera was if Kai was not around. Kai's reaction - not so smitten. At least if he was, he didn't let on. For the first two days he just stared at Allie. I am sure he was wondering how a being so small and so sweet could be so loud. Then he wondered if she was going to play with all of his toys and he did not approve of any lap time with HIS momma. But as the days wore on I think he got used to having his little cuz around. In fact, he was rather out of sorts for a few days after she left. Greg and I figured that the whole standoffish thing was just an act. Soon enough he'll discover that having a little cousin is a really great thing!
