New Baby, New Nicknames

As many of our readership now know, Louise, Kai and I now have a new member of the family - Teia Autumn Fennell was born on 4:04pm on 18 Oct 2009. If you're a budding numerologist (like Louise, unbeknownst to me until after Kai was born), then this is RIPE with good stuff! I was born on 9/18, Teia was born on 10/18. Kai was born on 4/27, Louise was born on 3/27. 18 and 27 are both multiples of 9. And so on.

What does it all mean?? No clue - but it makes for good fodder to pick on Louise during slow parts of the day: "Hey Louise, you finished feeding Teia at 2:10, you started at 1:10 - that was EXACTLY an hour ago!!! OMG!!!!!!!". (Louise doesn't find this nearly as funny as I do)

Now that Teia is getting into the groove of being a Fennell (there's not much to it, I have to admit), we move on to the important subject of nicknaming. We're finding that coming up with Teia's true name was much easier than some snazzy nicknames. With Kai it was the opposite - it took awhile till we found 'Kai' and liked it, but once he was born, the nicknames poured forth like a burst dam: Bubs, Kaister, Kai-moo, Moo, Kaister-Moo, Buds, Mr. Moo. I could go on, but you get the point: the fact that Kai responds to "Kai" is nothing short of miraculous considering how rarely we address him by his real name.

Hopefully, the nickname pool hasn't dried up, but so far we only have a few: Tay-Tay, Tay, Taister, and Tater. Tater is my personal fave, but hasn't caught on yet. "Tay" just makes you sound lazy: "What, it was too much trouble to add an 'a'???" , Taister sounds like "Tazer", while Tay-tay sounds just a LITTLE too much like "ta-ta's" (which probably isn't appropriate for ANY baby, let alone a girl).

Sorry if this is a little incoherent - its 444am now. Whoa, 3 4's! But at least its not 666am!!
