Teatime, fire trucks and Sibs update

Kai has had a busy day today! Guess that is why he decided to grace us with a nap after a full 7 days of no napping. Just when we think he is really and truly finished with naps, down he goes. He started his day with his first ever cup of tea! While lodging a protest about being put in his chair for breakfast, Kai noticed Mommy stealing a forbidden sip of Daddy's morning tea (Mommy has been relegated to the decaffeinated stuff for about the last 9 months). This served to distract him from his protest as he pointed out the "hot tea." Then he surprised us with a request that he have some for himself.

So we poured him a little bit in one of his toy teacups to let him have his first sip and captured the moment for posterity, because we all know that the first cuppa should be commemorated sort of like first steps, first words, and other important stuff like that. If you look/listen closely you can see him blowing on it to cool it down.
And here is he drinking up! A few more cups and I think he'll have that pinky sticking out!
After tea and brekkie, we headed out to help out the local fire department. Seems they had some dirty trucks and they figured recruiting the contingent of town toddlers could get them some enthusiastic and inexpensive help while not breaking any child labor laws.
Kai took his duties VERY seriously - didn't want to miss a spot!
In exchange for his hard work, Kai got to sit in the driver's seat of Engine 1, pretty exciting stuff! Meanwhile, the EMS guys told Mama that they'd be "happy to deliver that baby" and that they have LOTS of experience. Hmmmmm....we're hoping for a speedy labor this time around, but not THAT speedy.

Quick update on Sibs: This week saw several more appointments as the Sibs Super Surveillance continues. Sibs continued to perform on demand at our non-stress tests where his/her kicks and heart rate are monitored. Sibs seems to enjoy kicking and wiggling just about as much as his/her older brother and I believe the word used to describe Sibs this week was "wild" and I'm told this is a good thing??? Sibs also seems to have inherited Mama's butterfly heart and seems to really get going when s/he is wiggling. No good ultrasound pics this week due to Sibs' constant wiggling around but we did get a current weight estimate of 6 lbs, 11 oz. This is remarkably similar to Kai who was 6 lbs, 12 oz at birth at 37.5 weeks. Sibs and I will be 37 weeks on Monday. We did pull out a front face shot ultrasound of Kai at around 32 weeks and compared it to one of Sibs at around the same time and the similarity was striking! We'll see if we can get them scanned in to post on here sometime soon. So, it looks like we're almost to the point where we can safely say....any day now!
