'Tis the season of Fall Fairs...those tiny donuts, warm apple cider, cotton candy, sunflowers. Back in my hometown of Brighton, Ontario, this weekend is Applefest. We would have loved to have made the trip back but Sibs is due to arrive on the scene at any moment and we definitely didn't want to subject ourselves to Canadian healthcare for Sibs' birth (wink, wink...)
So instead we stayed close to our local birthing center and attended our second Bedford Day. Its hard to believe that we've lived in Bedford now for 16 months! The parade was a little more polished this year with a little more than the snow removal equipment and fire trucks of last year. Below is the historical Bedford Minutemen Band, dressed in period attire. It is actually pretty cool b/c Bedford is strategically located b/tw the towns of Lexington, where "the shot heard around the world" was actually fired, and Concord, where the author of that famous statement lived and where the 2nd battle of the American revolution was waged. So the Minutemen strode through Bedford on their line of march on their way to Concord.
and of course, the fire trucks. Lots of them! Looks like towns from all over donated their big red machines to entertain the little boys in the crowd. If you look closely you can see the Bedford High School cheerleaders riding astride the ladder. Thankfully Kai is still too young to appreciate this, and maybe he never will (being 1/2 Canadian - Cheerleading was so NOT cool in Canada!)
He was pretty entranced with the whole, loud spectacle. He had a great view up on Daddy's shoulders. Below is Kai demonstrating the "ear hold."Good thing he has a patient and sweet Daddy. Happy Fall!
