This is Kai-speak! As Kai nears his 2nd birthday, a magical thing is starting to happen; he is starting to talk. Some of his words are really obvious like "Mama" and "Dada." Others you have to listen more carefully to catch. This has made me realize that he probably has way more words than we think, we just haven't correctly translated them all yet.
Sometimes Kai sits in his high chair and calmly says "Ah Da" with a benevolent look on his face. Mommy or Daddy smiles back and says "Ah Da." Kai says it again. Mommy and Daddy keep smiling, and doing nothing. Hmmmm, not getting the reaction he wants - the food is still in front of him and he has not yet been released from his high chair to begin his favorite activity - wind sprints. Totally irritated, he smacks his hands together in a forceful sign indicating that he is indeed, all done with dinner. "Oh" says Mommy or Daddy, "you're all done!" Jeesh, thinks Kai, at least they understand sign language. Thank goodness for that!!!!
Today Kai and I had our first tea party, serving tea to the bunnies in little teacups that I finally found at Target that were NOT pink. He politely poured the tea, stirred in the milk and sugar (bunnies have a sweet tooth), and served invisible cake, happily saying "Mmmm mmm Dud!"
