Auntie Aynsley and Uncle Meeko came to visit us in San Diego for a few days last week and were we ever glad that they did. Not just because they are of the super fun variety and the kids love having them around but also because Uncle Meeko's medical know-how definitely came in handy as Kai decided it was his turn to get super sick. He managed to have a few well days while they were here before getting a double ear infection on top of whatever San Diego superbug he had and getting sick again the day they left.
We took advantage of the healthy days and packed in as much fun stuff as we could. We spent one morning at our local beach, "PB," watching the surfers, eating ice cream and taking in the scene (and what a scene it is). Uncle Meeko got some pretty picturesque shots:
The kids, Kai in particular, love the pier. It's a great spot to watch the surfers from right overhead, spot sea life and watch the fishermen. We also took our first trip to the famous San Diego Zoo. That place is pretty awesome. Kai was thrilled to ride the Sky Tram and was ear to ear smiles.
Even better, afterwards we all rode on the miniature railway, another favorite San Diego activity for the 4 and under crowd at our house!
Teia was pretty good at saying "Auntie Aynsley" but preferred to refer to Mike as "Wyan"(confusing him with our friend Ryan who visited a few weeks ago), or "Flanfet." She either stood in the hallway summoning him loudly or walked around calling for him when she wasn't sure where he was. When we asked her if she was looking for Uncle Meeko she would nod and say "yes, Meepo" without missing a beat. I guess the names were all interchangeable to her. From here on in, Uncle Meeko will always be known to Teia as "Uncle Flanfet." Not to be confused with Flanfet, her blankie. I guess Mike should be flattered that she put him in the same category as her #1 lovey.
It was a great time, sickness aside, and we love having visitors! It is especially fun when we are still exploring San Diego too. It makes it feel like we are all on vacation! (Until Greg's alarm goes off at 4:15 am and then that illusion is quickly shattered....) We can't wait to see Auntie and Uncle again (and the rest of the fam) at the wedding in the fall.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun and the pictures are great. Gotta love the ocean. Teia's hair has gone so blond since you moved. almost as blond as Kai now. can't wait to see them again.
